Happier days are ahead

The strict measures implemented by the government agencies have been very effective and, although it did create some hard times for a lot of people, the result has been worth it. The worst appears to be behind us, as there is a considerable drop in active Covid-19 cases. The vaccination drive has been very successful too with over half the population having received both doses of the vaccine to date. Efforts are underway to ensure that the rest of the population are fully vaccinated too. We are happy to report that we have started to receive inquiries from all the major B2B and B2C clients, especially from those in the European regions, and are thrilled to report that we have quite a few confirmations too! Now that fully vaccinated travellers can travel freely in the country, and without any requirement for Covid 19 insurance, we expect to see a larger influx of visitors arriving at our shores.

The return of Ratmalana to the international arena

After being relegated to handling only domestic flights 50 years ago, Sri Lanka’s first international airport is making a comeback to the international arena. Ratmalana Airport, which also served as an RAF base during World War 2, is expected to address a niche space and handle smaller aircraft holding up to 50 people, travelling short distances regionally. As part of this initiative, the first scheduled flights will operate between Ratmalana and Male, Maldives with more destinations to be confirmed in the near future. This is expected to increase accessibility to Sri Lanka and also provide options for Travellers to use Sri Lanka as a base to explore nearby destinations as well.
