The spicy-cool Kool that will make you drool!

Ah, the Sri Lankan Northern peninsula! Home to a variety of unique, flavoursome and iconic dishes. Many are well known and appear as featured dishes everywhere. But there’s one dish that’s known, to those who know - the off menu item, if you will - as the real dish of the North - The Jaffna Odiyal Kool. To explain it simply, would be to call it a seafood soup. But this mouth watering dish made of a variety of seafood, long beans, tapioca, jackfruit seeds, brown rice and Odiyal (Palmyrah tuber) flour is anything but simple. On a cold rainy day or when you are feeling under the weather, or when you just need a little boost, Odiyal Kool is the soul food that gives you that much needed pick-me-up! It’s a dish that’s not to be missed on your visit here and if you get the chance to cook the dish, do try your hand at it!
