Dear Trade Colleagues,

The traditional Sinhala & Tamil New Year was celebrated in Sri Lanka with much relief and joy after being muted last year due to the lockdown that was in place. The sense of hope has been growing and the slow trickle of travellers to the country has begun. The government has relaxed the rules for travellers arriving in Sri Lanka paving the way for larger groups to come and signalling that better times are on their way; something that was a distant dream not too long ago.

So let’s dream impossible dreams, rejuvenate ourselves with a glass of goodness as we explore the hills with KC the numbers man and also find out how the pachyderms are getting a new buffet!

All are welcome! We are happy to announce that the medical authorities of Sri Lanka have relaxed the rules regulating PCR Tests and Bio-bubbles. Under the new rules, fully vaccinated travellers will need to undergo a PCR test on-arrival and then be required to stay only their first 2 nights in the bio-bubble. Once a negative PCR test result is returned, they are free to explore the country to their heart's content. Progress of Human-Elephant Conflict (HEC) Mitigation Project Based on the recommendation of our specialist, renovation work has begun on the Konketiya water tank on the border of Block 4 in Yala National Park. The aim of this project is to make more food sources available to the elephants, which in turn should also stop them from invading the villages for food.
